In the search for viable and eco-friendly printing solutions, remanufactured toners are an excellent option due to their sustainability and performance. However, it is essential to identify and seek out quality seals and certifications that ensure the product’s proper functioning and reliability.
Below, we discuss the main seals and certifications to consider.
ISO 9001 Standard
This is an international standard that specifies the requirements for a Quality Management System (QMS) and ensures that the manufacturing company follows systematic and effective processes to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and applicable regulatory requirements.
This certification ensures that the toner is reliable and meets the expected quality standards, reducing the likelihood of failures and ensuring consistent, high-quality printing.
ISO/IEC 19752 Standard
This standard is specific to monochrome toners and establishes a standard method for measuring the performance of these cartridges. A remanufactured toner with this certification has been tested to ensure it provides a consistent number of prints per cartridge, guaranteeing high reliability and consistent performance.
ISO/IEC 19798 Standard
This standard applies to color toners and establishes a uniform method for determining cartridge performance, ensuring that the user gets a predictable number of high-quality prints. With this certification, reliable and consistent performance is guaranteed.
DIN 33870 Standard
It contains requirements for the preparation of refilled toner modules for color printers and specifies the minimum characteristics for optimal performance during cartridge use. This ensures that the remanufactured toner meets high-quality standards, discarding all cartridges that do not meet these standards in the process.
BS 8887 – 220:2010 Standard for Design for Manufacture, Assembly, Disassembly, and End-of-Life Processing
This is a specific European standard for remanufactured products, defining and certifying all steps of the remanufacturing process, from disassembly to re-manufacture and assembly, including the parts or components used and the treatment of the product at the end of its life cycle. A toner certified under the BSI standard has undergone a rigorous remanufacturing process, allowing it to offer performance and warranty comparable to that of a new replacement product.
ETIRA Label
Granted by the European Toner and Inkjet Remanufacturers Association (ETIRA), this certification ensures that the toner has been produced following industry best practices and high standards of environmental responsibility, helping users distinguish between more environmentally friendly printing cartridges and those that are not.
These certifications not only ensure the quality and performance of the toner but also guarantee that both the supplier company and the organization purchasing the product are contributing to sustainable and environmentally responsible practices.
At GM Technology we are committed to excellence, performance, and sustainability in our products, and we hold all these seals and certifications for our remanufactured toners.
