Association Policy with FSC and PEFC

  1. Purpose

This policy establishes the company’s commitment to the principles and values promoted by the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC™), ensuring that our business activities are carried out in an ethical, legal, socially responsible, and environmentally sustainable manner.

  1. Scope

This policy applies to all activities, workplaces, employees, managers, and representatives of GM Technology, as well as to any interested parties acting on behalf of the organization.

  1. Commitments

The company is committed to not being directly or indirectly involved in the following unacceptable activities defined by FSC:

  • Trade in illegally harvested forest products

The organization will comply with all applicable legislation related to forest harvesting, the trade of forest products, and the traceability of the raw materials used.

  • Violation of human and traditional rights

The organization will respect and promote internationally recognized human rights, as well as the rights of workers, local communities, Indigenous peoples, and all other groups affected by its activities.

  • Destruction of High Conservation Values

The organization will avoid any activity that causes significant damage to or destruction of forests with High Conservation Values or other environmentally significant ecosystems.

  • Significant conversion of forests to plantations or non-forest use

The organization will not promote or participate in the conversion of natural forests into forest plantations or other land uses that result in a significant loss of environmental or social values.

  • Introduction of genetically modified organisms in forestry operations

The organization will neither use nor promote the use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in forestry activities associated with FSC.

  • Violation of the ILO Core Conventions

The organization will respect the fundamental labour rights recognized by the International Labour Organization (ILO), including:

  • Freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining.
  • Elimination of forced or compulsory labour.
  • Effective abolition of child labour.
  • Elimination of discrimination in employment and occupation.
  • Safe and healthy working conditions.

Compatibility with Other Certification Schemes (PEFC)

In addition to complying with the requirements of FSC® certification, the organization has implemented and maintains a forest management/chain of custody system in accordance with the PEFC™ standard.

Both systems are managed independently, ensuring compliance with the principles of each certification scheme at all times, preventing the improper mixing of certified materials, and ensuring full product traceability.

The coexistence of FSC® and PEFC™ within the organization reflects our commitment to continuous improvement, sustainability, and meeting the diverse needs of the market while maintaining the integrity of both certification systems.

  1. Compliance and Continuous Improvement

GM Technology’s Management will ensure the implementation, communication, and periodic review of this policy by allocating the necessary resources to ensure compliance and by promoting the continuous improvement of its social, environmental, and ethical performance.

  1. Communication

This Association Policy will be made available to all interested parties and communicated to employees, suppliers, customers, and other organizations that maintain business relationships with GM Technology.
